Melody Carey, Founder, President and CEO
Melody Carey has over 30 years of professional experience in the healthcare field as an investment banker and as an investor relations counselor, where she was responsible for creating and implementing customized financial and communications strategies. During her career, Melody established herself as a leading crisis communications expert, counseling numerous client companies as they worked through such issues as unexpected earnings losses, disappointing clinical trial results and shareholder activism.
Prior to founding Rx Communications in 2000, Melody was a top-level consultant to the pharmaceutical industry, where she directed corporate communications initiatives, provided crisis communications counsel, developed messaging platforms and oversaw the execution of programs designed to increase her clients’ visibility and credibility among the financial community and the media.
Before founding Rx Communications in 2000, Melody headed the in-house investor relations efforts for The Multicare Companies Inc. and Schein Pharmaceutical Inc., where she directed all corporate communications initiatives, provided crisis communications counsel, developed messaging platforms and oversaw the execution of programs. During her tenure as an in-house investor relations officer, she was responsible for increasing the number of non-banking sell-side analysts publishing on the companies, significantly increasing institutional holdings and working directly with investment bankers during the companies’ various capital raising transactions. Melody served as the spokesperson of record until their respective acquisitions. As a corporate spokesperson in the healthcare industry, Melody has been quoted in the financial and trade media.
Prior to her in-house investor relations roles, Melody worked on the communications side, heading accounts in the life sciences and healthcare industries at Noonan/Russo Communications, Inc., a leading international healthcare investor relations firm. Melody began her career in the healthcare industry as an investment banker at Kidder, Peabody & Co. Incorporated.
